According to various rumor sites, it is being reported that Zoe Saldana (Pirates 2 and 3 Witch) has been cast as Uhura for Star Trek XI. She apparently worked with Abrams and movie producer Bryan Burk in the past on Six Degrees so there is familiarity fueling the rumor. Being in Pirates probably doesn't hurt either. However, some doubt of scheduling as she is also in James Cameron's Avatar which begins filming in October, a month before Star Trek XI filming begins. Since the size of her roles in either film is unknown, it might be feasible for her to do both films.

She wasn't the witch in Pirates 2 and 3. She was a pirate in Pirates 1.
