Eight Spoilers from Star Trek Into Darkness

Monday Paramount Pictures held a press event at Bad Robot's Headquarters in Santa Monica, California. On hand was JJ Abrams and a few cast members from Star Trek Into Darkness. The event was to help promote the teaser trailer (most screenings) and 9 minute preview (IMAX 3D only) that is coming out on December 14th with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. One of the spoilers was already revealed when Paramount revealed that the name of Benedict Cumberbatch's character is John Harrison. TrekMovie reveals 7 other spoilers including character names, locations and a few story tidbits.

1) Alice Eve is Carol Marcus
The beautiful short haired blonde in the teaser of the teaser is Lieutenant Carol Marcus. In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the character was a civilian scientist working on instantly terraforming planets and was the ex-girlfriend of Kirk in his Starfleet Academy days from which she has his son. In the movie she is a member of Starfleet and probably does not have a previous relationship (or son) with Kirk until getting on board the Enterprise.

2) Joseph Gatt is playing GATT2000
At the beginning of the year it was revealed that Thor's Joseph Gatt was set to play some unknown role in the movie. Now its revealed that he is playing either an android or humanoid with tech enhancements. Exact nature of the role in the film remains unclear.

3) Admiral Pike loses the chair
Bruce Greenwood has suggested a while back that he hopes that no only does he get to reprise his role but that Pike gets out of the chair. It seems both wishes come true, ast least judging by the Starfleet cane prop spotted at the event. This remains unconfirmed. Extent of Pike role in the movie remains unknown but likely even less then the first.

4) At least 14 Klingons in the movie
The Klingons are in the movie (as glimpsed in the teaser of the teaser). At least 14 total as 12 actors were in the ridged helmets and 2 more played them without the helments.

5) Some story takes place Klingon homeworld of Qo'noS (pronounced Kronos)
It seems that John Harrison has business on the planet beyond beating up Klingons but those details remain under wraps.

6) Chekov wears two hats
While the why remains unknown, Chekov does start the movie in his regular gold tunic but at some point he ends up in a red (security) tunic. This may be a nod to the movies when Chekov Prime transferred from the bridge to security.

7) Deep Roy returns as Keenser
Scotty's sidekick returns for more amusement and hijinks.
