Star Trek: Khan Mini-Series Announced

A bit of comic news related to the Star Trek 2.0 movie run that got a little mainstream press attention. IDW has announced a kind of prequel mini-series called Star Trek: Khan. The six-issue series provides the backstory on Star Trek Into Darkness's Khan. According to writer Mike Johnson, "We're traveling back in time to show Khan's rise to power and give fans their first look at the legendary Eugenics Wars. As the series unfolds we will see the events that led to Khan leaving Earth aboard the Botany Bay, and then jump forward to witness his awakening in the future by Admiral Marcus." The story is over seen by movie writer Roberto Orci. Orci has professed he reads many of the Star Trek books so I can't help but wonder if they make some use of "The Eugenics Wars: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh" novel written by Greg Cox that presented as a kind of secret war against the empire Khan was trying to build in the 90s. The series will begin in October.
