Star Trek Beyond Holds Dubai Press Conference

In what I can only guess is part of the agreement to film in Dubai to help drum up tourism, the cast of Star Trek Beyond participated in a press conference at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai to promote the city and the start of filming of the movie in the city. You might think it is to help drum up international interest in the film but honestly the Middle East is irrelevant to box office receipts. Pretty much nothing was said about the film as everyone took turns waxing poetic about the city as some of the quotes below attest. If interested, a video of the press conference is below.
“We came searching for the future and we found it in Dubai,” said producer Jeffrey Chernov at a press conference that also included director Justin Lin and co-stars Simon Pegg and Karl Urban. “Dubai represents the future of what the frontier would be like in our film, and is an excellent place to shoot the movie as well as a special opportunity for all of us. This is not just the third of three movies, but has a new, refreshing twist, and Dubai’s great visuals really fit the story.”

Pine added, “I woke up this morning, opened up the blinds and it looks like whatever ‘tomorrow’ will be. It’s future land.”
