posted to social media by an actor on the set of Star Trek: Discovery probably cost him any chance of ever working on the series again also revealed either the new look of the Klingons or a new alien race for the show. Considering the look seems to lean heavily on the Star Trek Into Darkness Klingon design, well if it looks like a duck... However keep in mind that since this show is set 10 years before The Original Series, the Klingons then were without ridges or other battle implements due to the Klingon Augment Virus as explained in the 4th season of Star Trek: Enterprise (the best season of the show, rest is meh)
Of course the real reason for the look is due to budget limitations of the time where the makeup and costumes alone would have blown the entire TOS episode budget so a wig, simple costume and body paint was the norm. However, Discovery doesn't have those limitations and there is no reason to be bound by TOS' limitations if they can just make a story tweak or two to avoid it. So in this case what if an attempt to cure the augment virus created this new version of Klingons that our heroes must deal with in an episode or two?
