Star Trek: Discovery at SDCC Includes Trailer

Friday the cast of Star Trek: Discovery appears at the San Diego Comic-Con 2018 to promote the show. While no release date was revealed, they did show off a new trailer (below), discussed "mini-episodes" coming soon and revealed a few details about season 2. Below is the few details revealed from the panel.

- Four "Star Trek: Short Treks" will be released monthly of about 10-15 minutes each in length. One will focus on Harry Mudd (with character actor Rainn Wilson writing and directing it), another on character named Craft (Aldis Hodge) stuck on a deserted ship, a look at Saru's (Doug Jones) from when he first joined Starfleet and Tilly's (Mary Wiseman) meeting a new friend on the ship.

- Exec. Producer/Showrunner Alex Kurtzman: "Everyone is asking, how are we staying true to canon, and I can tell you, yes, we will be seeing Spock this season"

- Rebecca Romjin will be playing Number One who is second in command on the Enterprise and likely takes command while Captain Christopher Pike is busy on the Discovery. The role was first played by Majel Barrett Roddenberry in The Cage and The Menagerie episodes.

- Bad news for the "red shirts" during the season.

- There will be a visit to Saru's planet of Kelpia.
