Pike Era Star Trek TV Series Announced

The voyages of the USS Enterprise will continue on CBS All Access. The streaming service has announced Star Trek: Strange New Worlds that will follow the adventures of the Captain Pike era crew that was introduced in Star Trek: Discovery. Anson Mount (Captain Pike), Rebecca Romjin (Number One), and Ethan Peck (Spock) will all return for the series. The pilot episode was written by Akiva Goldsman with story by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. The voyage will pick up at a point shortly after the events of end the of Star Trek: Discovery season 2. As for when it will premiere, that is likely at least a year away since filming cannot even begin to start until Covid-19 quarantine ends which is starting to look like end of summer at the earliest. Even then new protocols will likely slow filming and post-production down. End result is look for either later 2021 or mid 2022 for the premiere. With this, at some point there will be a grand total of five Star Trek shows in airing or production - Star Trek: Discovery S3, Star Trek: Picard S2, Star Trek: Section 31 S1 (temp name), Star Trek: Lower Decks S1, and now Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S1. Below is the core trio announcing the new show.
