Lindelof Talks Trek Sequel

Damon Lindelof recently spoke with E Online about Star Trek sequel. He is one of the writers on the sequel along with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci. Nothing concrete was said other than The Dark Knight is a source of inspiration on what they hope to achieve with the next movie. Link via TrekMovie.

The bar is very very high for the sequel. We are looking at a movie like The Dark Knight which actually went one step beyond Batman Begins. It was really about something and at the same time was a superhero movie. We don’t want to abandon all the things that made the first movie work — have it be fun and emotional, but we also want the movie to thematically resonate, so we are putting on our highfalutin hats.

IDW Publishing has released their publishing plans for November. The month will bring a single Star Trek comic books for some reason. Typhon Pack Preview

After about a year delay, it seems the next big storyline of the Star Trek novels is finally going to come out starting this fall, according to StarTrek.com. The previous "Destiny" storyline ended with the assimilation of the Borg by their parent race the Caeliar after the thousands ship strong Borg force invaded the entire quadrant and destroyed entire planets and cities including Deneva, Qo'noS, and Khitomer. As a result of the invasion, six enemies of the Federation (which still includes the Klingons) joined together to form the Typhon Pact. The membership is the Romulans, Tzenkethi, Breen, Gorn, Tholian, and Kinshaya. The four novels will cover the consequences of this new coalition of forces and the impact it will have on the rest of the Star Trek universe.
