Star Trek Beyond Trailer Scores Star Wars Spot
Star Trek Beyond's first trailer has scored a berth in front of the biggest film of 2015 (and if current numbers hold the biggest since Avatar) When Star Wars: The Force Awakens premieres on December 18th. This could be the biggest audience ever (outside of a Super Bowl slot) for the film in the United States considering Force Awakens is on track for $100 million in pre-sold tickets (a record), $300 million weekend (a record), and crosses all demographics, ages and sexes (something Star Trek sometimes struggles to do). The match isn't much of a surprise considering Force Awakens director JJ Abrams also executive produced Star Trek 3 but its still a big opportunity for the film so hopefully they will not blow it with a weak trailer (basically the first trailer needs to be cut likes its the final trailer). No indication was made on when the trailer might appear online.
