Star Trek Starfleet Academy Hires Lead

Veteran actor Holly Hunter (Mr. Mayor, The Incredibles) has signed on for the lead role in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. She will be playing the chancellor in charge of the Academy in the 32nd century where soon to end Star Trek: Discovery is currently set. Traditionally the Academy is set in San Francisco but isn't clear if that will be the case for the series. 

The plan is to build the largest set ever for Star Trek with a central atrium containing a mess hall, class rooms, walkway, and amphitheater so likely much of the series will rely heavily on this set to keep production costs down. The details of the series, including the character name, has not yet been revealed. I am going to assume Hunter will play a human character as doubt she is interested in being put in alien makeup on a daily basis for filming. Filming on the series will begin in Toronto later in the summer.
