First Draft of Roddenberry's Star Trek Pitch

A piece of Star Trek history has been posted online for the public to enjoy (for now) in the form of Gene Roddenberry's first draft of his Star Trek pitch. The PDF file can be found here. What make the pitch interesting are the changes that occurred from concept to final production. For example, Mr. Spock was "heavy-lidded and satanic" while the Captain of the "S.S. Yorktown" was Robert M. April (later retconned in via the novels as the first captain of the Enterprise). The pitch has early titles of a few familiar early episodes of the series, shows some of the concepts (like Parallel Worlds) that laid the foundation on why everything was conveniently Earth-like (and therefore cheaper to cast, costume and set build), and much more. It is an interesting look at how much Roddenberry had in mind from the onset and yet how much changed once the show passed the pilot phase and eventually entered into television history. (via IO9)

  1. It's amaizing how right in front of us is the way to travel the stars! Look at the earth all the answers are within! Dirt covered ball of magma floating on a positively charged ball of metal make gravity. SO take a tube ring, Fill it with the one metal that is liquid at room temprature add a positive charge then spin it at 1,000 + miles per hour and you have gravity. Now using (Bi) or bismuth you can focus that gravity in any direction. Increase the field to exceed the earths field and you have lift. Then well talk about bending space and time to travel great distances. Stop dreaming and start building!

Otherwise shut up and get out of my way!

  2. One other thing, the side effect of gravity is that the earth is traveling at aprox 1000 miles per hour this is a fact. While in this gravity field outside effects do not effect the Interior.
The old saying, your in a car traveling at 100 miles per hour and the car stops you die cause your body is traveling at 100 miles per hour and you now understand what a bug feels like on your windshield. While in this field you don't have to worry about the outside speed just the inside which is stable AND not your problem. Thus making a 45 degree turn at 1,000,000 miles per hour would be like your traveling 0 mile per hour inside the field. So we can take our earths situtation and take it with us in space. Thus, we don't float aroud in space, like those loser in the space station do now, and we can goto mars in about 2 hours instead of 12 months and we stick to the deck in space like we do here on earth. WE also get there and many places very fast when you can reduce your mass to zero. But what do I know as I'm a see'er and I have seen our future and our past both mistakes and our accomplishments, what the fuck does my sickeness know anyways! You can investigate the future or go back to sleep loser!
