R.I.P. Annie Wersching 1977 - 2023

It is with sadness to announce that prolific TV actress Annie Wersching died of cancer this morning at the age of 45. The cancer type was not specified except that she was diagnosed in 2020. For Star Trek fans, she played the Borg queen in season two of Star Trek: Picard. You may also remember her from great turns in Bosch, Runaways, Timeless, 24, The Rookie, voicing Tess in The Last of Us, and a whole lot more.

Wersching’s husband, actor Stephen Full, issued a statement. “There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall. “As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. ‘I love you little family…’ “

Picard season 2 co-star Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), wrote "What a beautiful, bright light we lost today. I’m so lucky to have had the chance to work and play with the incredible @anniewersching. My heart breaks for her beautiful family and everyone who was lucky enough to know her." More words from her co-workers and friend here, here and here. Condolences to her family.
