He commented to trekmovie.com:
It would’ve been a dream to create a beautiful Wagon Train to the Stars for JJ Abrams worthy of the command of James Tiberius Kirk. I have not seen the design they chose, but this is one of three ideas I had designed as what I would’ve done if tasked with that assignment. The one pictured here was published in Pocket Books’ ‘Ships of the Line’, a calendar of CG imagery by Trek VFX alum. I am sure Ryan Church has done the vessel justice, betcha his makes mine look like a Pinto.Star Trek XI writer Robert Orci later responded to the rumor with a little Transformers humor added:
I think they’re quite beautiful. A lot of nice work.Below is a fan made teaser trailer using Koerner's design. You can also view additional images here on his official website. (source)
You just can’t deny the SHAPE of the ship, which is so great — so elegant.
Can’t wait to show show you ours.

AWESOME...THE PRODUCERS OF THE NEW MOVIE SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH THIS. IT PISSES ME OFF WHEN THEY ARE SO MUCH UNTAPPED TALENT OUT THERE, AND THE STUDIO DECIDES TO KEEP IT IN HOUSE. IT'S LIKE TRANSFORMERS...EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A GOOD MOVIE...THEY COULD HAVE KEPT THE TRANSFORMATIONS MORE IN TONE WITH THE ORIGINAL CARTOON...LEAVE IT TO HOLLYWOOD TO BUTCHER THINGS. FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN FROM THE STAR TREK TRAILER...I WAS LIKE...BEEN THERE...SEEN IT BEFORE. THE ENTERPRISE HERE LOOKS HARDCORE...AND I HOPE THIS GUY FINDS SOME EMPLOYMENT IN THE HOLLYWOOD INDUSTRY...NOW ONLY IF HE CAN DO A REVAMPED VERSION OF THE ENTERPRISE-D ...NOT E. THE E LOOKS LIKE THE TITANIC IN SPACE.
