- Star Trek considered an institution at Paramount and important to its future but an aging but loyal fan base isn't sufficient to keep the franchise going so primary goal is "charting a precarious course to satisfy the fans who have fueled it for decades while also discovering innovative ways to get new audiences on board."
- Starfleet Academy is confirmed to be a YA (Young Adult) series set during the 32nd century that will "start production on the largest single set ever created for “Star Trek” on TV." The planned set will have a "central academic atrium, a sprawling, two-story structure that will include a mess hall, amphitheater, trees, catwalks, multiple classrooms and a striking view of the Golden Gate Bridge in a single, contiguous space" that will make use of the largest soundstage in Canada at 45,900 square feet.
- Starfleet Academy's time setting "dramatically reducing how much the show’s target audience of tweens and teens needs to know about “Star Trek” before watching — which puts them on the same footing as the students depicted in the show."
- Star Trek: Strange New World uses an "AR Wall", basically Paramount's version of the Volume that was first created by ILM for The Mandolorian, to create virtual sets. Anson Mount says "Sometimes we call it the holodeck".
- Kacey Rohl's role in Star Trek: Section 31 movie is young Rachel Garrett. Best guess is this would be around the 2320s which is almost the mid-point in timeline between Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country (2293) and first season of The Next Generation (2364). The character is a bit of an easter egg for fans with her future as captain of the USS Enterprise-C not critical to the story.
- Michelle Yeoh is up for a sequel to Section 31 if its successful enough for Paramount+ to warrant it. No small thing considering the Academy Award winner is now in a position to blow off Star Trek in favor of other things with her demand being higher than ever.
- Paramount still planning on a fourth Kelvin Universe theatrical movie, now with Steve Yockey (The Flight Attendant, Supernatural) now working on a script. He would be the fifth writer hired and suspect its no small accident they hired a television writer whose experience is working with small budgets.
- The Star Trek "origin" film is also forging ahead with preproduction schedule to start by end of the year. That theatrical movie is written by Seth Grahame-Smith (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) and to be directed by Toby Haynes (“Andor,” “Black Mirror: USS Callister”). Side note: USS Callister is getting a sequel on Netflix sometime this year.
