40 Plus Star Trek Alumni Join Snoop Dogg's Unbelieveable Parody Film

Below the trailer, complete with James T Kirk puppet, of a parody film that was executive produced by Snoop Dogg along with Nichelle Nichols (TOS Uhura) and a few others. I am not entirely sure what it is parodying but the key thing is has culled from all eras of Star Trek to build its cast. Screen Junkies has posted their latest piece of movie snark. This time they turned their eye to Star Trek Into Darkness. It is an amusing (and accurate) take down of the movie with a ton of spoilers so warning. Not that it matters at this point as the movie has as much in common with old style Star Trek as Star Wars does.

The Spocks Amusing Audi Commercial

A new commercial released by Audi focuses on Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy who both are forever known as Spock. The amusing video plays off the Spock background along with a few antedotes from Nimoy's past like his Big Bad Bilbo song. Worth a few for any Trek fan.

With this week's release of Star Trek Into Darkness in Europe, humor channels Screen Junkies and Cinema Sins decided to post their take on the first Star Trek film. The idea is a humorous (if accurate) take on the story and execution mistakes that were made.

Captain Kirk at the Oscars Opening

Last night the 2013 Oscars were held with an interesting addition in the form of William Shatner in full Captain Kirk costume to try and help Seth McFarlane get good reviews as host. If ever watch Seth's Family Guy, American Dad, and Cleveland Show you pick up pretty quick that he is a geek at heart and a long time Trek fan so a Star Trek reference wouldn't have been a surprise. Getting Shatner back into costume for the show for an extended segment was unexpected (actually surprised Patrick Stewart didn't so something since works with Seth as a voice actor on all his stuff). The segment probably shouldn't have worked but when you have The Shat working the camera, the chances of success go up. Video of the segment below or hit up ABC.com to view it.

30 Years of Star Trek Bloopers and Outtakes

Enjoy it while it stays up but below is a 41 minute long blooper reel from of Star Trek The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise. Also includes bloopers from Star Trek (2009), Star Trek IV The Voyage Home. The video was compiled by a fan from the various DVD, Blu-ray and who knows where else that has been released over the years. Personally I love outtake and blooper reels. I like laughing with the stars (them cracking up tends to cause me to crack up) and it often makes me like the star more because its a sign that they try not to take themselves to seriously and have a sense of humor. While not scientific, it also seems that the stars willing to risk looking like fools on outtake reels are also the same ones that seem to have good reputations not just as professionals but with their fan interactions. Long story short, if I was a producer and trying to figure out if an actor might be a "problem child" on set, verifying the existence or willingness to release a blooper rule would be a way to cull the unknown divas. Star Trek: TNG Gag Reel

I love gag reels, especially the good ones that are just flat out funny and give the impression the cast and crew are just annoying themselves. Like this one for Star Trek: The Next Generation that is a special feature with the season 1 Blu-ray set. You can always tell when actors take themselves too seriously if there is a gag reel and for some reason you notice someone missing. Everyone makes mistakes, how they handle it gives insight to who they are as a person. Based on this reel, it seems the TNG cast was a group of people that enjoyed their work and each other. Personally I think all actors and shows be up to releasing gag reels. It is the best kind of public relations and does nothing but in-dear and actor to you more, not less.

Sir Patrick Stewart: Replacement Correspondent

Last night Sir Patrick Stewart appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as a replacement correspondent. The joke was having fun with the NFL replacement referees whose inexperience has resulted in many blow calls, only in this case the replacement was an improvement over regular John Oliver. Stewart often does comedy as a regular voice for Seth McFarlane's American Dad, Family Guy, the movie Ted and pretty much anything that interests him. The idea of Stewart as a regular correspondent is one I could easily get behind. By the way, the referee lockout has been resolved.

Last night Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki was a guest on a show. During the interview he spoke about working with Star Trek: The Original Series' George Takei (Sulu) for his cameo appearance and his "Shakespearean" delivery.

Abrams' Spock, Uhura Kiss on Simpsons

Last night's The Simpson's had an unexpected nod to JJ Abrams' Star Trek by creating the transporter room turbolift kiss between Spock and Uhura from the recent film. Of course it was done Simpson style but a pretty solid recreation. The brief sequence was part of a montage of famous movie kises (most I don't recognize) as Bart experienced his first real kiss from a girl. The clip below is from Hulu, so not available to anyone outside the US.

TrekMovie also has another Simpson's clip from their fourth season involving The Shat (Happy 79th Birthday) and others for "Star Trek XII"; ironic considering what is coming in two years.

100 Reasons Kirk Better Than Picard
