If check the Kreon list, notice that the sets are a combination from both JJ Abrams movies while the Kreon assortment packs indicates that Hasbro plans on diving into all of Star Trek, not just the last two movies.

New Star Trek Toys Revealed
It probably comes as no surprise that there will be toys based on Star Trek 2 coming out next year. The surprise though is some of the new toys are not based on the upcoming movie but on Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation. The toys are from Diamond Select and now available for pre-order through your local comic book store or favorite online store. The first wave of toys include Electronic Enterprise B, Enterprise E, and Wrath of Khan. Also have retro figure with retro packaging for the Borg and Picard, Mirror Universe Kirk and Spock, toy props and more. Details are here.

Kre-O Star Trek Trailer
Hasbro and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot has released a new trailer to promote their Kre-O line of Star Trek products. The line, which is based on Lego, was kicked off last year with Transformers and expanded this year with Battleship. If the trailer below seems familiar, it is because it mimics the teaser trailer for Star Trek (2009). The line will hit stores in Spring 2013 but the first wave of play sets will be on display at the San Diego Comic-Con next week. Weird how the CGI saucer section of the Enterprise looks great but the Kre-O version seems too small and disproportionate.Thursday, May 10, 2012
Kre-O Star Trek Teaser Image
As you can see, Hasbro has released another Kre-O teaser image for Star Trek 2 via Collider. In Feburary, Hasbro announced it acquired the toy license to make toys based on the upcoming movie. The Kre-O line is Hasbro's answer to Lego. Currently the line consists of Transformers and Battleship based playsets that are pretty good. Hopefully the quality will continue and focus on the ships of the Trek universe much like Lego did with Star Wars rather then the "enviroment" sets Lego favored with their other movie licenses like Harry Potter and Indiana Jones. Time will tells as the toys are not set for release until next year.

Hasbro Announces Star Trek License Agreement
Today Hasbro (Transformers) has announced an agreement with CBS Consumer Products to create a variety line of products based on Star Trek to be released in 2013. For now the only announced line is Star Trek Kre-O which is Hasbro's version of Lego but the plan is to "offer robust line of role-play toys for kids and fans to act out the intergalactic saga as well as select new figures." The Kre-O line was first introduced with various Transformers sets based on the movie and classic Generation One looks. I suspect the toy lines will be focused almost entirely on the recent JJ Abrams' Star Trek 2.0 movies with some aspects touching on The Original Series. If the lines prove successful (not a guarantee) then they might expand to other Trek TV series. I just hope they plan on having Kre-O Enterprise sets as Hasbro is not as reluctant to create custom designed pieces for a set as Lego is so might be able to really pull of the curves and looks of the star ship in block form. The full press release is below, image via TNI.

Star Trek Toy Line Cancelled
Playmates Toys has announced that the future release of Star Trek toys for next year are "on hold" according to TrekMovie. Playmates created most of the Star Trek toys, movie related and otherwise, currently found on store shelves. The exact cause for why the toy line has been cancelled was not revealed but it sounds like sales did not meet retail expectations as there remain plenty of toys from the initial April wave that came out with the movie's early summer release. I have seen many stores already mark down those toys and according to the report Target stores have already begun putting them up for clearance to open up shelf space.
Playmates said it remains committed to the toy line, indicating they will release toys to complete bridge and transporter playsets, but it appears its mainstream emergence has failed with Star Trek toys once again returning to the realm of the hard core collector. Overall, the film itself was a success so likely the toy line will return to store shelves once again in 2012 for the sequel, whether Playmates or another toy company does the producing and at what scale will be the question.

Sneak Peak at Burger King's Star Trek Promotion
Starting this Sunday night, Burger King will launch its Star Trek promotion tie in with a new commercial that introduces the Kingons that are half Klingons and half BK King. The result is an interesting mix as the pictures from the Hollywood Premiere last night shows. The new commercial will have the Kingons teleport (using new effects from the movie) into a living room of a couple to take their Burger King cups with a humorous ending. Click images for larger size.

As part of the promotion, Burger King is offering 4 Star Trek glasses that will be $1.99 each with purchase of a BK Value Meal and for the kid's meal they have a collection of 16 different toys (8 characters, 8 vehicles) that each play a sound when the button is pressed. For example, the Spock Prime figures says "Live long and prosper", the Enterprise makes the warp sound, and McCoy says "I am a doctor, not a physicist!"
Burger King was kind enough to send me a promotional kit to showcase their new items that will be available in the restaurants starting May 4th. Below are a few pictures of the kit, the glasses and the toys. Sorry for the quality but lighting in the room wasn't the best. I really like the look and design of the glasses with the see through Starfleet logo that shows off the image in the back of the glass. The toys too are cool using lines and sounds directly from the movie.

Star Trek Barbies
The movie isn't out but soon you can buy the Barbie version of Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Uhura (Zoe Saldana) starting in April for $45. The dolls are part of Barbie Collectors line and stand about 12 inches tall. The pictures are interesting if for no other reason then to give an excellent example on how the uniforms will look in the movie. Accessories include a phaser and communicator.

Playmates Lands Movie License
Toy Ark reports that Paramount Pictures has handed the Star Trek 11 toy license to Playmates. The toy company had previously made Star Trek toys for most of the 90s. The license is limited to just the movie so other agreements with Star Trek still stand. I imagine the toy line will probably start hitting store shelves around March to early April.

Star Trek Toys Planned
AICN has posted a report from the Germany Toy Fair that includes a little information about the upcoming toy line for the Star Trek film. The major revelation is the costumes and designs are very similar to the Original Series.
From the report:
From the report:
Let’s start with STAR TREK. One of the toy companies had a special room filled with upcoming Star Trek toys. As a fan I look at the new JJ Abrams movie with both excitement and hesitation. I think the reboot is a good way to bring Star Trek to a new younger audience. I can’t imagine that the LEGO Star Wars kids will run hot for William Shatner as Kirk or even Scott Bakula as Archer. So in terms of survival the reboot is a good thing. But my fears were that JJ Abrams would bring too much realism in Star Trek – like the tv series Enterprise, ignoring the magical atmosphere of the original series.
Fortunately I feared too soon. In the special Star Trek room were about 50 action figures, a few phasers, playsets, Spock’s ring, Spock’s ears and the new Enterprise. The action figures were not the final versions, but you could hardly tell that they weren’t from the original tv-series but from the new movie. Kirk wore his famous yellow uniform (and black trousers), Spock his blue one (a little bit darker though) and Scotty the red one. The Leonard Nimoy Spock had a white monk-like robe, that looked like a variation on the one he wore in The Search for Spock. Highlight was Zoe Zaldana as the new Uhura. She wore the same red communication uniform, but this time the skirt was much shorter and there was much more emphasis on her breasts. In this movie she will give Seven of Nine a run for her money!
The phasers and communicators were almost the same as in TOS. Even the sounds were identical. And then… the new Enterprise. As a toy it had a great TOS feel to it. It’s a little more ‘organic’ than the original one and I think the two warp engines and the ‘bite’ taken from the central body are a little bit bigger. The floor of the new transporter room is red, by the way. Also shown was another spaceship. It resembled an octopus and could have appeared in one of the Matrix sequels. I don’t think it was Romulan.
