Star Trek Timelines Announcement Trailer
A new Star Trek strategy role-playing game has been announced for release on mobile devices and web browsers. Called Star Trek Timelines, the idea is mix all eras of the Star Trek in a "story-driven social game that allows players to explore the galaxy, tackling problems through combat, science or diplomacy, while collecting resources and building the ultimate starship." For fans, probably the fun part will be having famous Trek characters working together so could build a crew with Captain Archer ordering Spock and Riker around while Bashir and medical.
"We want to create a new generation of strategy game for tablet and mobile devices and one that is as large and deep as the Star Trek universe itself," said Jon Radoff, CEO of Disruptor Beam via official press release. "I grew up watching the franchise and have always felt that the best episodes were those that went beyond the coolness of the technology or vastness of space; the ones which told the story of characters making important decisions that had an impact on others, on civilizations, planets, and technology. Star Trek Timelines will encompass all of these concepts, allowing you to explore the vastness of space along with your friends—letting you live out the 'where no man has gone before' mantra we all love—but will also allow you to make decisions that impact your future, your friends and even the fate of the Galaxy."
The game is being developed by Disruptor Beam whose other recent title is Game of Thrones: Ascent. The announcement trailer below does nothing to show case the game as its full of quotes from different characters in across all Trek shows. Hopefully soon will get a better idea of how the game will look and gameplay. You can keep up with the game's progress through the official Facebook page or DisruptorBeam.com.

Star Trek The Video Game - Making the Game Part 3
Namco-Bandai has released their next video that looks behind the scenes of making Star Trek The Video Game that is coming out on April 23rd. The first two parts (one | two) were released in previous months. While this one is labeled Part 4, I have not been able to find part 3 online so this is probably it. Any case this edition focuses on the sound design, music and voice cast for the game which uses all the actors from the game. The mostly first person shooter has the crew take on the Gorn.

Shatner vs. The Gorn Again
In a tongue in cheek video to promote Star Trek The Video Game, its William Shatner vs The Gorn. While the commercial mimics the Gorn look from The Original Series, the video game does not as the foes are much more lizard like, faster and deadlier. The game is coming April 23 for PS3, 360 and PC.

More on Star Trek The Video Game with Screenshots
Next month on April 23, Star Trek The Video Game will be released for Playstation 3 and XBox 360. The game is a sorta of prequel to Star Trek Into Darkness as it depicts the events during a mission where the Enterprise and its crew encounter the Gorn but it does not tie directly into the movie. The Gorn are lizard like sentient beings that were first introduced in The Original Series episode Arena. At the time (due to custume and budget), they were depicted as strong but slow moving creatures. For the game, with its mostly first person (as Spock, Kirk or in command of the Enterprise), that is no longer the case as they come in many different and deadly forms. The story start has two new characters, Vulcans T'Mar and her father Surok, wanting to use a new device to quickly terraform a new planet for Vulcans. Their attempt to use the device opens a rift in space allowing the Gorn to invade and try to capture the tech. Hero Complex spoke with Paramount SVP Brian Miller as he discussed the goals of the game. One was reuniting the cast who all voice their digital counterparts. He also discussed one of the game goals, "We wanted to take the viewer — and I use the term ‘viewer’ deliberately — on this journey. We wanted you to play a Kirk and Spock quest. We had to give the viewer some things they didn’t expect rather than them just doing the same things you saw them do in the movies."

Star Trek Game Villains Revealed
This week E3 was held. The annual expo is used by video game makers to show off their years’ worth of gaming and hardware plans. One of the games is Star Trek the Video Game. A teaser trailer of the 3rd person shoot em up was released a few months ago but since then not much has been said. With E3, oddly no new trailer or gaming footage but some new information was released. The main bit of news is The Original Series villains the Gorn (think sentient lizards) will make their 2.0 debut in the game. In addition Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto have signed on to voice the characters in the game. Finally, the official website has launched with the Gorn logo and screenshots from the game. The video game will be released in early 2013, probably a few months before the movie is released in May.Monday, April 16, 2012
